April is for Spinning

So far I’ve had 3 votes on my question of “what next” I know there are more of you out there, click for me!  Heck, vote twice!  Do I pull out my Forest Path Stole or do I knit something new?  So far Forest Path is winning.

This is Ashford’s silk merino silver in Salvia.  I’m aiming to have it as a 2 ply in a heavy lace weight/light sock.  With luck it will be a shawl before the end of the year and part of my stashdown.

I want to spin some of the wonderful stuff that I have so I can knit with it.  And so I can justify buying more.

My brother got me a gift certificate for Knit Picks & they have some nice bats from Hanks in the Hood that I want to get my hands on.  Specifically Seattle & Mercer Island.

I’m going to try to dedicate at least one night a week to spinning in April.  We’ll see how well this goes!

This is Catkin by Carina Spencer, I had done one last year for my Mother (below, modelled by Gadget) and wanted one for myself.  I found the perfect green, an Art-by-Ana Party Cake going from pail jade green to an almost charcoal.  I’ve added a second repeat of the edging pattern because a) I had so much of the yarn left and I want to use it all & b) I like the design & wanted it bigger.  The final edging will probably end up wider as well just so every last scrap gets used – it’s far too pretty to have leftovers.

This will knock another item off my check list of “things to finish.”  Progress has unfortunately slowed on the list for the simple reason that I’ve got a lot of larger things left that didn’t have that much done on them.

For April though it’s going to be the lace & the spinning.

About Jadedknitter

I'm an author, a knitwear designer, a painter, and trying to find my love of the kitchen again. I write romance novels (they're candy, for the brain!) and read mostly history. I love to knit in the evenings curled up with my pug and watching whatever documentary strikes my fancy. My designs are born from a desire to knit something that I can see in my minds eye but can't find a pattern for. My current crop of paintings have been Celtic knots, I've drawn them for years now I'm colouring them in. Who knows what I'll end up doing next!
