Things not to forget at work

I’m one of the last people out of my office at night.  I shut things down & close & lock up.  Now my office, like many, has electronic locks on the doors so you have to swipe a card to get in.  I’ve worked in offices that had this system for years.

I know I have to have my pass on me at all times.

I closed up last night and went to drop the last few files off.  I always cut through the middle of the floor, which takes me out one locked door and through another.

I’m sure you can see where this is going.

I had put my pass back in my jacket pocket (it also has my bus pass in it so I need it to get home).  Then picked up the files & walked out the door leaving my pass, jacket, wallet, keys, and cell phone at my desk.

There is no one in the building who can let me back in.

I got lucky & there was someone left in the office who eventually went to head out & let me back in.

There are days I have to hang my head in shame, that was one of them.

About Jadedknitter

I'm an author, a knitwear designer, a painter, and trying to find my love of the kitchen again. I write romance novels (they're candy, for the brain!) and read mostly history. I love to knit in the evenings curled up with my pug and watching whatever documentary strikes my fancy. My designs are born from a desire to knit something that I can see in my minds eye but can't find a pattern for. My current crop of paintings have been Celtic knots, I've drawn them for years now I'm colouring them in. Who knows what I'll end up doing next!

Well, at least you didn’t set off the alarm.
